🍗 Chicken Cordon Bleu

Chicken Cordon Bleu is a classic dish where chicken breasts are stuffed with ham and cheese, breaded, and then baked or fried until golden and crispy. It’s a delicious combination of tender chicken, savory ham, and melted cheese.

🥘 Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 slices of ham
  • 4 slices of Swiss or Gruyère cheese
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2–3 tbsp butter or oil for cooking

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the chicken

  1. Place chicken breasts between two pieces of plastic wrap.
  2. Pound with a meat mallet until about ½ inch thick.
  3. Season both sides with salt and pepper.

2. Assemble the Cordon Bleu

  1. Lay a slice of ham and cheese on each chicken breast.
  2. Roll up the chicken tightly, tucking in the sides to seal.

3. Coat the chicken

  1. Dredge each rolled chicken breast in flour.
  2. Dip into beaten eggs.
  3. Coat evenly with breadcrumbs.

4. Cook

  • Baking: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place chicken in a greased baking dish. Bake 25–30 minutes until golden brown and cooked through (internal temp 165°F / 74°C).
  • Pan-frying: Heat butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook 6–8 minutes per side until golden and fully cooked.

5. Serve

  • Let rest 5 minutes before slicing.
  • Optional: drizzle with a light cream sauce or serve with lemon wedges.

💡 Tips

  • Cheese alternatives: Swiss, Gruyère, or even mozzarella works well.
  • Ham options: Thin slices of smoked ham or prosciutto give more flavor.
  • Prevent leakage: Use toothpicks to secure rolls while cooking.
  • Side dishes: Mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or a simple salad complement the dish.

I can also provide a quick air-fryer version of Chicken Cordon Bleu that’s crispy and ready in under 25 minutes.

Do you want me to give that version?
