Turkish bread is light, airy, and slightly chewy—perfect for sandwiches, dipping, or serving with meals.

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons yeast
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Optional topping: sesame seeds or nigella seeds

  1. Activate yeast
    • Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast.
    • Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Make dough
    • Add flour, salt, and olive oil.
    • Knead for 8–10 minutes until soft and elastic.
  3. First rise
    • Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour (until doubled).
  4. Shape the bread
    • Flatten dough into an oval or round shape.
    • Use your fingers to gently press lines (traditional pattern).
  5. Second rise
    • Let it rest for 20–30 minutes.
  6. Add topping
    • Brush lightly with water or egg wash.
    • Sprinkle sesame or nigella seeds.
  7. Bake
    • Bake at 220°C (430°F) for 12–15 minutes until golden.
