Ingredients (for 1 loaf)

  • 1 ¾ cups (220 g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (50 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup (150 g) brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 ½ cups)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup (120 ml) buttermilk or milk
  • ½ cup (90 g) chocolate chips (semi-sweet)
  • ½ cup (90 g) white chocolate chips
  • ½ cup (90 g) dark chocolate chunks

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven:
    • 350 °F (175 °C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
  2. Mix dry ingredients:
    • In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream butter and sugar:
    • In a large bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Add eggs, one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract and mashed bananas.
  4. Combine wet and dry:
    • Gradually fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
    • Stir in milk to loosen the batter slightly—it should be thick but pourable.
  5. Add chocolate:
    • Gently fold in chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and dark chocolate chunks.
  6. Bake:
    • Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.
    • Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean (a few melted chocolate streaks are fine).
  7. Cool and serve:
    • Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
    • Slice and enjoy as-is, or spread with a little butter or Nutella for extra indulgence.
