Strawberry Guava

Psidium cattleianum is a tropical fruit plant also known as strawberry guava or cattley guava.

🍓 What it is

  • A small evergreen tree/shrub
  • Produces small round fruits (red or yellow)
  • Native to Brazil and South America

🍒 Fruit taste

  • Sweet, fragrant, and slightly tangy
  • Flavor is often described as a mix of:
    • strawberry 🍓
    • guava 🍈
    • mild floral notes

🌿 Growing conditions

  • Climate: Warm tropical or subtropical
  • Sunlight: Full sun to partial shade
  • Soil: Well-drained soil
  • Water: Moderate (doesn’t like waterlogging)

🌱 Uses

  • Eaten fresh
  • Made into jams, juices, and desserts
  • Sometimes used in herbal teas

⚠️ Important note

  • In some countries, it is considered invasive because it spreads quickly in forests.
