Here’s a classic recipe for oatmeal raisin cookies—soft, chewy, and full of warm flavor.

🍪 Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Ingredients (makes about 20–24 cookies)

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup raisins

Optional:

  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    • Set oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and sugars
    • In a large bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla
    • Mix in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
  4. Combine dry ingredients
    • In another bowl, mix flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Mix together
    • Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
    • Stir in oats, raisins, and nuts if using.
  6. Shape cookies
    • Drop tablespoon-sized portions onto the baking sheet.
  7. Bake
    • Bake for 10–12 minutes until the edges are golden.
  8. Cool
    • Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a rack.

💡 Tips

  • For extra chewy cookies, soak the raisins in warm water for 10 minutes and drain before adding.
  • For softer cookies, slightly underbake them.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
