Meatloaf

Here’s a classic, hearty meatloaf recipe that’s flavorful and moist:

Classic Meatloaf

Ingredients (serves 4–6)

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef (or mix beef and pork)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup ketchup (plus extra for topping)
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, soak breadcrumbs in milk for 5 minutes.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ground meat, soaked breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and thyme. Mix gently until combined. Avoid overmixing to keep meatloaf tender.
  4. Shape mixture into a loaf and place in the prepared pan. Spread a thin layer of ketchup on top.
  5. Bake 55–65 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  6. Let meatloaf rest 10 minutes before slicing to retain juices. Serve warm.

Tips

  • For extra flavor, add chopped bell peppers, carrots, or mushrooms to the mix.
  • Use panko breadcrumbs for a lighter texture.
  • Swap ketchup topping with a BBQ sauce glaze for a smoky variation.

I can also give a quick skillet meatloaf version that doesn’t require baking and is ready in about 30 minutes if you want.

Do you want me to share that?
