🥔 Mashed Potatoes

Mashed potatoes are a classic, creamy side dish made from boiled potatoes mixed with butter, milk, and seasonings. They’re perfect with meats, gravies, or vegetables.

🧾 Ingredients

  • 4 medium potatoes (Russet or Yukon Gold are best)
  • 2–3 tbsp butter
  • ¼–½ cup milk (adjust for creaminess)
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional: black pepper, garlic, or herbs for flavor

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Boil the Potatoes

  • Peel and cut potatoes into even chunks.
  • Boil in salted water for 15–20 minutes, until soft.

2️⃣ Drain and Mash

  • Drain water and return potatoes to the pot.
  • Mash using a potato masher or fork until smooth.

3️⃣ Add Butter and Milk

  • Mix in butter until melted.
  • Gradually add milk, stirring, until creamy.
  • Season with salt and optional pepper or herbs.

4️⃣ Serve Hot

  • Top with a pat of butter, chopped parsley, or roasted garlic if desired.

💡 Tips

  • For extra creamy mashed potatoes, warm the milk before adding.
  • For richer flavor, use cream instead of milk.
  • Don’t overmix, or potatoes may become gluey.
