Hard-boiled egg

Posted on March 9, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a foolproof way to make perfect hard-boiled eggs:

Ingredients:

  • Eggs (as many as you want)
  • Water
  • Ice (for an ice bath)

Instructions:

  1. Place the eggs in a saucepan in a single layer. Add enough cold water to cover the eggs by about 1 inch.
  2. Heat the water on medium-high until it reaches a rolling boil.
  3. Turn off the heat and cover the saucepan with a lid.
  4. Let the eggs sit in the hot water:
    • 9–12 minutes for large eggs
    • 12 minutes for extra-large eggs
  5. Prepare an ice bath (bowl of ice water).
  6. Transfer the eggs to the ice bath immediately to stop the cooking process. Leave them there for at least 5 minutes.
  7. Peel and enjoy! To make peeling easier, gently crack the shell all over and roll the egg before peeling.

Tips:

  • Older eggs peel easier than very fresh eggs.
  • For creamier yolks, aim for 9–10 minutes of resting in hot water for large eggs.

If you want, I can also give you a one-step method that doesn’t require timing the boil—super easy for beginners. Do you want me to do that?
