Ham and cheese biscuits

Posted on March 4, 2026 by Admin

Ham and cheese biscuits are a savory, soft, and flaky baked treat, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a snack. They combine fluffy biscuits with salty ham and melty cheese for a satisfying bite.

Ingredients (Makes 8–10 biscuits)

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (115 g) cold butter, cubed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced cooked ham
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk (or milk + 1 tsp vinegar)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cut in butter: Use a pastry cutter or fingers to mix butter into flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add cheese and ham: Stir in shredded cheddar and diced ham evenly.
  5. Add liquid: Pour in buttermilk and stir gently until dough comes together. Do not overmix.
  6. Shape biscuits: Turn dough onto a floured surface and pat to 1-inch thickness. Cut into rounds using a biscuit cutter or glass.
  7. Bake: Place biscuits on prepared baking sheet and bake 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Serve: Warm, optionally with extra butter or alongside eggs for breakfast.

Tips

  • Extra fluffy biscuits: Handle the dough gently and do not overmix.
  • Cheese variations: Try Swiss, Monterey Jack, or Gruyère for a different flavor.
  • Add herbs: Chopped chives, parsley, or thyme enhance flavor.
  • Make-ahead: Dough can be shaped and refrigerated for a few hours before baking.

Ham and cheese biscuits are easy, versatile, and crowd-pleasing, combining buttery, cheesy, and savory flavors in each bite.

I can also provide a quick one-bowl version for ultra-fast breakfast biscuits if you want.

Do you want me to do that?
