🍗 Grilled Chicken Wings

Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 2 lbs (900 g) chicken wings
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper for heat
  • Optional sauce: buffalo, barbecue, or honey garlic

Instructions

  1. Prepare the wings
    • Pat wings dry with paper towels (removes moisture for crispier skin).
    • If whole, separate into drumettes and wingettes.
  2. Season
    • Toss wings in olive oil, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne if using.
  3. Preheat the grill
    • Medium-high heat (about 375–400°F / 190–200°C).
    • Oil the grill grates lightly to prevent sticking.
  4. Grill the wings
    • Place wings on the grill and cook 20–25 minutes, turning every 5 minutes to prevent burning.
    • Internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
  5. Add sauce (optional)
    • If using a sauce, brush it on during the last 5 minutes of grilling.
    • For extra sticky wings, toss wings in sauce after grilling.
  6. Serve
    • Serve hot with celery sticks, carrot sticks, and a dipping sauce like ranch or blue cheese.

💡 Tips

  • Crispier skin: Grill wings over indirect heat first, then sear over direct heat at the end.
  • Marinate option: Marinate wings in your favorite sauce or spice mix for 2–4 hours before grilling for extra flavor.
  • Oven alternative: Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 35–40 minutes, flipping halfway, then broil for 2–3 minutes for crispiness.
