Crock Pot Chicken and Gravy is a simple, comforting, and hands-off dish where tender chicken is cooked slowly in a rich, savory gravy. It’s perfect over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.


Ingredients (for 4–6 servings)

  • 4–6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1 can (10–11 oz / 280–310 g) cream of chicken soup (or homemade alternative)
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or rosemary
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2–3 tbsp cornstarch or flour (optional, for thickening)
  • Optional: chopped vegetables (carrots, peas, or mushrooms)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the slow cooker:
    • Place chicken in the crock pot
    • Add onion, garlic, and optional vegetables
  2. Make the gravy:
    • Mix cream of chicken soup with chicken broth, thyme, salt, and pepper
    • Pour over the chicken
  3. Cook:
    • Low: 6–7 hours
    • High: 3–4 hours
    • Chicken should be tender and easy to shred or slice
  4. Thicken the gravy (optional):
    • Remove chicken and stir in cornstarch or flour slurry
    • Cook on high 10–15 minutes until the gravy thickens
  5. Serve:
    • Slice or shred the chicken, pour the gravy over it
    • Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits

Tips

  • Extra flavor: Sear chicken in a skillet before slow cooking for more depth
  • Vegetables: Add carrots, peas, or green beans for a complete meal
