Here’s a classic Peach Cobbler recipe that’s simple, comforting, and absolutely delicious — perfect with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

🍑 Classic Peach Cobbler

Ingredients

For the filling:

  • 6–8 fresh peaches, peeled, pitted, and sliced (about 6 cups)
(or use 2 cans of sliced peaches in juice, drained, or 1 bag of frozen peaches, thawed)

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

  • 1 tsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 tsp cornstarch (for thickening)

For the batter:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Prepare the peaches:

    • In a medium saucepan, combine peaches, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, vanilla, and cornstarch.

    • Cook over medium heat for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is bubbly and slightly thickened.

    • Remove from heat and set aside.

  3. Make the batter:

    • In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

    • Stir in the milk until just combined.

  4. Assemble the cobbler:

    • Pour melted butter into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.

    • Pour the batter evenly over the butter (do not stir).

    • Spoon the peach mixture evenly over the batter (again, do not stir — it will bake up beautifully layered).

  5. Bake:

    • Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the batter has risen up around the peaches.

  6. Cool slightly and serve:

    • Let cool for about 10–15 minutes before serving.

    • Best enjoyed warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

🍽️ Tips:

  • Fresh peaches are best in season, but frozen or canned work great too.

  • For extra texture, sprinkle a little turbinado sugar or cinnamon sugar on top before baking.

  • Want a crispier top? Use slightly less milk (about 3/4 cup).
