Here’s a quick and tasty way to make Chow Mein using ramen noodles—perfect when you want a stir-fry without buying special noodles.


🍜 Chow Mein with Ramen Noodles Recipe

Ingredients (serves 2–3):

  • 2 packs of instant ramen noodles (discard the seasoning packets or set aside for another use)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • ½ cup bean sprouts (optional)
  • 2–3 green onions, chopped
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • Optional protein: cooked chicken, beef, shrimp, or tofu

  1. Cook noodles: Boil ramen noodles 2–3 minutes until just soft. Drain and rinse under cold water. Set aside.
  2. Stir-fry vegetables: Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add onion, garlic, carrot, and bell pepper. Stir-fry 3–4 minutes until slightly tender.
  3. Add cabbage & sprouts: Stir-fry another 2 minutes until cabbage softens.
  4. Combine noodles & sauce: Add cooked noodles and toss with soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and sugar. Mix well so noodles are coated evenly.
  5. Add protein: If using, toss in pre-cooked meat or tofu until heated through.
  6. Finish: Sprinkle chopped green onions on top. Serve hot.

  • For extra crunch, sprinkle sesame seeds on top before serving.
  • Use spicy chili sauce or sriracha for a kick.
  • Add mushrooms, snap peas, or baby corn for more veggies.
  • Toast noodles lightly in a dry pan before adding sauce for a “crispy chow mein” effect.
