Castor oil

Posted on March 3, 2026 by Admin

🌿 Castor Oil

Castor oil is a thick, pale yellow vegetable oil made from the seeds of the castor plant (Ricinus communis). It has been used for centuries in traditional medicine, skincare, and hair care.

🌱 Common Uses

1️⃣ Constipation relief

  • Acts as a natural stimulant laxative
  • Usually works within 6–12 hours
  • Should only be used occasionally (not daily)

2️⃣ Hair & scalp care

  • Used to moisturize dry scalp
  • May help reduce breakage
  • Often applied to eyebrows and lashes (though growth claims are mostly anecdotal)

3️⃣ Skin care

  • Deep moisturizer
  • May help with dry patches and cracked heels
  • Sometimes used to support wound healing

4️⃣ Castor oil packs

  • Cloth soaked in castor oil placed on the abdomen
  • Traditionally used for inflammation and digestive support (evidence is limited but many people use it for relaxation and comfort)

⚠️ Safety Notes

  • Do not use internally if pregnant (can stimulate contractions).
  • Can cause cramping or diarrhea if overused.
  • Always patch-test before applying to skin.

💡 How to Use for Hair

  1. Warm a small amount between your hands.
  2. Massage into scalp.
  3. Leave for 30–60 minutes (or overnight).
  4. Shampoo thoroughly (may need two washes).

If you’d like, tell me what you want to use it for — hair growth, constipation, skin, or something else — and I’ll give more specific guidance.
