A slow cooker beef dish is perfect for tender, flavorful meals with minimal effort. Here’s a versatile recipe and a few tips.


🥘 Slow Cooker Beef Stew

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs (900g) beef chuck, cut into 1–2 inch cubes
  • 4 carrots, sliced
  • 3 potatoes, cubed
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup red wine (optional)
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp rosemary
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp flour (optional, for thickening)

Instructions:

  1. Prep beef: Season beef cubes with salt and pepper. Optional: sear in a skillet for extra flavor.
  2. Layer ingredients: Add beef, carrots, potatoes, onion, and garlic to the slow cooker.
  3. Add liquids & seasoning: Mix in broth, wine, tomato paste, thyme, and rosemary.
  4. Cook: Low for 8 hours or high for 4–5 hours, until beef is tender.
  5. Optional thickening: Mix 2 tbsp flour with a little water and stir in 30 min before serving to thicken the sauce.
  6. Serve: With bread, rice, or mashed potatoes.

  • Vegetables: Add parsnips, celery, or mushrooms for extra flavor.
  • Spice: Add a bay leaf, paprika, or a dash of Worcestershire sauce.
  • Slow cooker hack: Layer root vegetables at the bottom and beef on top for even cooking.
