🍽️ Salisbury Steak
Salisbury steak is a classic American comfort dish made from seasoned ground beef formed into oval patties, pan-seared, and served with a rich brown gravy—often with onions and mushrooms. It’s usually paired with mashed potatoes or egg noodles.
🥩 What It Is
Despite the name, it’s not actually steak. It’s more like a hamburger patty without a bun, designed to be eaten with gravy.
The dish was popularized by James Salisbury, a 19th-century physician who promoted a meat-centered diet for health reasons.
