Masala Chips

Posted on March 4, 2026 by Admin

Ah, Masala Chips! 🍟✨ This is a spicy, flavorful snack where crispy fries or potato wedges are tossed in Indian-style spices. Perfect as a snack or side dish.

Masala Chips Recipe

Ingredients (serves 2–3):

  • 3–4 medium potatoes
  • 2–3 tablespoons oil (vegetable or canola)
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon chaat masala (or a pinch of cumin + black salt)
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
  • Lemon wedges (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prep potatoes: Peel (optional) and cut into thin fries or wedges.
  2. Soak & dry: Soak in water for 15–20 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat dry.
  3. Fry or bake:
    • Frying: Heat oil in a deep pan and fry until golden and crisp.
    • Baking: Toss with 2 tbsp oil, spread on a baking sheet, bake at 425°F (220°C) for 25–30 min, flipping halfway.
  4. Spice it up: While hot, sprinkle chili powder, chaat masala, turmeric, garlic powder, and salt. Toss to coat evenly.
  5. Garnish & serve: Top with fresh cilantro and squeeze lemon juice if desired. Serve immediately for maximum crispiness.

Tips

  • For extra crunch, toss fries in cornstarch before frying.
  • Variations: Add paprika, dried mango powder (amchur), or crushed black pepper for unique flavors.
  • Serve with ketchup, mint chutney, or yogurt dip for a fusion touch.

If you like, I can also give a quick air-fryer version of Masala Chips that’s extra crispy and healthier, perfect for a snack in 20 minutes.

Do you want me to share that version?
