🍯 Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken

Crispy honey garlic chicken is a sweet, savory, and crunchy dish where bite-sized chicken pieces are fried to golden perfection and tossed in a sticky honey garlic sauce. Perfect over rice or noodles.


🧾 Ingredients (Serves 4)

Chicken

  • 1 lb (450 g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Honey Garlic Sauce

  • ¼ cup honey
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water (optional, for thicker sauce)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Coat & Fry Chicken

  • In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, salt, and pepper.
  • Dip chicken pieces into beaten eggs, then coat with the flour mixture.
  • Heat oil in a skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry chicken in batches for 4–5 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.

2️⃣ Make Sauce

  • In a small saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, garlic, and vinegar.
  • Simmer over medium heat for 2–3 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • If desired, add cornstarch slurry to thicken.

3️⃣ Toss Chicken in Sauce

  • Add fried chicken to the sauce and toss until evenly coated.

4️⃣ Serve

  • Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
  • Optional garnish: sliced green onions, sesame seeds, or chili flakes.

💡 Tips

  • Use chicken thighs for juicier meat.
  • Keep oil hot to ensure a crispy coating.
  • Adjust honey and soy sauce ratio for sweeter or saltier sauce.
  • Reheat leftovers in a skillet to maintain crispiness.
