🧾 Ingredients
For the meat filling
- 500 g ground lamb (traditional) or ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp oil
For the mashed potato topping
- 3–4 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped
- 2 tbsp butter
- ¼ cup milk
- Salt to taste
👩🍳 Instructions
- Make mashed potatoes
- Boil potatoes in salted water for 15–20 minutes until soft.
- Drain and mash with butter, milk, and salt until smooth.
- Cook the filling
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add onion and garlic, cook until soft.
- Add ground lamb/beef and cook until browned.
- Add vegetables and sauce
- Stir in mixed vegetables, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, broth, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer 5–8 minutes until slightly thick.
- Assemble the pie
- Spread the meat mixture in a baking dish.
- Spoon mashed potatoes on top and spread evenly.
- Use a fork to make lines on top (helps crisp the surface).
- Bake
- Bake at 200°C (400°F) for 20–25 minutes until the top is golden.
🍽️ Optional Add-ons
- Sprinkle cheddar cheese on top before baking.
- Add fresh parsley for garnish.
