🍽️ Pork Chops with Mushroom Gravy

Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 4 pork chops (bone-in or boneless)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1½ cups chicken broth
  • ½ cup milk or heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season the pork chops
    • Sprinkle both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Sear the pork chops
    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Cook pork chops about 3–4 minutes per side until browned.
    • Remove and set aside (they will finish cooking later).
  3. Cook the mushrooms
    • In the same pan, add butter.
    • Add mushrooms and onion and cook until soft and golden (about 5 minutes).
    • Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Make the gravy
    • Sprinkle flour over the mushroom mixture and stir for 1 minute.
    • Gradually add chicken broth while stirring to avoid lumps.
    • Add milk or cream and thyme.
  5. Simmer with pork chops
    • Return pork chops to the skillet.
    • Cover and simmer 10–15 minutes until the pork is cooked through and the gravy thickens.
  6. Serve
    • Garnish with parsley and serve hot.

  • Steamed green beans
