Emergency actions when alone

If you are alone in an emergency, the most important things are to stay calm, get help quickly, and keep yourself safe. Here are key actions for common situations ๐Ÿšจ


1. Call for Help Immediately ๐Ÿ“ž

  • Dial Rescue 1122 Pakistan (1122) for medical, fire, or rescue emergencies.
  • If you cannot speak, try to stay on the line so the operator can trace your location.
  • Put the phone on speaker so you can continue first aid.

2. If You Are Seriously Injured ๐Ÿฉธ

Heavy bleeding

  1. Press firmly on the wound with cloth or bandage.
  2. Raise the injured area above heart level if possible.
  3. Keep pressure until help arrives.

Possible broken bone

  • Do not move the area.
  • Use cloth, towel, or stick to keep it still (splint).

3. If You Are Choking ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

Perform self-Heimlich maneuver:

  1. Make a fist above your belly button.
  2. Push inward and upward sharply.
  3. Or press your abdomen against the back of a chair or table to force air out.

4. If You Feel a Heart Attack โค๏ธ

Possible signs: chest pain, pressure, sweating, nausea.

Actions:

  1. Call 1122 immediately.
  2. Sit down and stay calm.
  3. If available and not allergic, chew an aspirin (about 300 mg).
  4. Unlock your door if possible so rescuers can enter.

5. If There Is a Fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ

  • Leave the building immediately.
  • Stay low to the ground if there is smoke.
  • Do not use elevators.
  • Call 1122 once outside.

6. If You Feel Faint or Dizzy ๐Ÿ˜ต

  • Lie down and raise your legs slightly.
  • Drink water if dehydration might be the cause.
  • Call for help if symptoms continue.
