Cinnamon roll

🍥 Cinnamon Roll

A cinnamon roll is a sweet, soft pastry made from rolled yeast dough filled with cinnamon, sugar, and butter, then baked and usually topped with icing or cream cheese frosting.


🧾 Ingredients

Dough

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup butter (softened)
  • 1 egg

Filling

  • ⅓ cup butter (softened)
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1–2 tsp ground cinnamon

Icing

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tbsp milk or cream
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Activate the yeast

  • Mix warm milk, yeast, and a little sugar.
  • Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

2️⃣ Make the dough

  • Add flour, sugar, salt, butter, and egg.
  • Knead until smooth and elastic.
  • Cover and let rise 1 hour until doubled.

3️⃣ Roll and fill

  • Roll dough into a rectangle.
  • Spread butter, then sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon.

4️⃣ Roll and cut

  • Roll into a log and cut into 8–12 slices.

5️⃣ Second rise

  • Place rolls in a baking dish and let rise 30 minutes.

6️⃣ Bake

  • Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes until golden.

7️⃣ Add icing

  • Mix icing ingredients and drizzle over warm rolls.

💡 Tips

  • Add cream cheese frosting for bakery-style cinnamon rolls.
  • Sprinkle chopped nuts or raisins in the filling.
  • Best served warm with coffee or tea ☕.
