Each method gives crispy, delicious bacon, depending on your preference and tools available.

How to Cook Bacon (3 Methods)

Method 1: Stovetop (Frying Pan)

Ingredients:

  • Sliced bacon (as many strips as desired)

Instructions:

  1. Place a large skillet or frying pan on the stove (no need to preheat).

  2. Lay the bacon strips in a single layer. Do not overlap.

  3. Turn the heat to medium. As the pan heats up, the bacon will begin to sizzle and release fat.

  4. Cook for about 8 to 12 minutes, flipping occasionally with tongs, until your desired crispness is reached.

  5. Transfer the cooked bacon to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess grease.

  6. Let it rest for 1 to 2 minutes before serving.

Notes:

  • For extra crispy bacon, cook slowly on medium-low heat.

  • Pour off excess grease carefully into a heatproof container if the pan becomes too full.

Method 2: Oven (No Mess Method)

Ingredients:

  • Sliced bacon

  • Optional: aluminum foil or parchment paper

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).

  2. Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.

  3. Lay bacon strips on the sheet in a single layer. No need to flip.

  4. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, checking after 12 minutes to avoid overcooking.

  5. Once golden and crispy, remove from oven.

  6. Use tongs to transfer the bacon to a plate lined with paper towels.

  7. Let cool slightly and serve.

Notes:

  • For less greasy bacon, place a wire rack on the baking sheet and lay bacon on the rack to allow fat to drip.

Method 3: Microwave (Quickest Method)

Ingredients:

  • Sliced bacon

  • Paper towels

Instructions:

  1. Line a microwave-safe plate with two layers of paper towels.

  2. Lay 2 to 4 bacon slices on the paper towels without overlapping.

  3. Cover with another layer of paper towels.

  4. Microwave on high for 1 minute per slice, adjusting as needed for your microwave and crispness preference.

  5. Carefully remove from microwave and let rest for 30 seconds.

Notes:

  • Best for small batches.

  • Always monitor closely to avoid burning.

Tips for All Methods

  • Save the bacon grease for cooking eggs, vegetables, or flavoring soups.

  • Store cooked bacon in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze for longer storage.
