🍗 Chicken Cordon Bleu Casserole

A Chicken Cordon Bleu Casserole is a deconstructed version of the classic dish: chicken, ham, and Swiss cheese baked in a creamy sauce, often topped with breadcrumbs for crunch. It’s simpler to make than traditional rolled Chicken Cordon Bleu but just as delicious.

🛒 Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or cubed
  • 6–8 slices cooked ham, chopped
  • 1½ cups shredded Swiss cheese (or Gruyère)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz / 300 ml) cream of mushroom soup (or homemade)
  • ½ cup mayonnaise or sour cream
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (optional: panko for extra crunch)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (for breadcrumb topping)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the base – In a large bowl, combine cooked chicken, ham, Swiss cheese, cream of mushroom soup, mayonnaise or sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Transfer to baking dish – Pour mixture into a greased 9×13-inch casserole dish and spread evenly.
  4. Add topping – Mix breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the casserole.
  5. Bake – 25–30 minutes, until bubbly and golden on top.
  6. Serve – Let rest 5 minutes before serving with a side of vegetables, rice, or salad.

💡 Tips

  • Cheese alternatives: Gruyère, cheddar, or mozzarella work well.
  • Make-ahead: Assemble the casserole the night before, cover, refrigerate, then bake the next day.
  • Crispier topping: Toast breadcrumbs in a skillet before sprinkling for extra crunch.

If you want, I can give you a low-carb version using almond flour and cream cheese for the topping instead of breadcrumbs.
