Here’s a savory, cheesy Cheddar Bread — soft inside, golden crust, and packed with sharp cheddar flavor 🧀🍞


🧀 Cheddar Bread (Easy Yeast Loaf)

🛒 Ingredients (1 loaf)

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh chives (optional)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Activate yeast
    In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Make dough
    Add melted butter, salt, and 2½ cups flour. Mix until combined.
    Gradually add remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead
    Knead 8–10 minutes (by hand or mixer) until smooth and elastic.
  4. Add cheese
    Gently knead in shredded cheddar (and chives if using).
  5. First rise
    Place dough in greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1–1½ hours until doubled.
  6. Shape & second rise
    Shape into a loaf and place in a greased 9×5-inch pan.
    Cover and rise 30–45 minutes.
  7. Bake
    Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30–35 minutes until golden and hollow-sounding.
  8. Cool slightly before slicing.

⚡ Quick No-Yeast Cheddar Bread (Biscuit-Style)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar
  • 1 cup milk
  • ¼ cup melted butter

Bake

Mix everything just until combined. Spread in a greased 8×8 pan and bake at 375°F for 30–35 minutes.
