Sounds delicious! Here’s a simple butter dough recipe paired with a smooth vanilla cream filling — perfect for making pastries, Danish-style treats, or sweet rolls.


🧈 Butter Dough (Sweet Pastry Dough)

🕒 Time:

  • Prep: 15 minutes

  • Chill: 1 hour

  • Bake: 15–20 minutes (if baking pastries)
    🍽 Yields: Enough for 8–10 pastries


Ingredients:

  • 2¼ cups (280g) all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed

  • ¼ cup (50g) granulated sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • ⅓ cup (80ml) cold milk (or cream)

  • 1 large egg


Instructions:

  1. Cut butter into flour:
    In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  2. Add wet ingredients:
    In a small bowl, whisk milk, egg, and vanilla. Pour into flour mixture.

  3. Form dough:
    Mix gently until a dough forms. Avoid overworking. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for at least 1 hour.


🍨 Vanilla Cream Filling (Pastry Cream)

  • 2 cups (480ml) milk

  • ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar

  • 3 tbsp cornstarch

  • 4 large egg yolks

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract


Instructions:

  1. Heat milk:
    In a saucepan, heat milk until just simmering.

  2. Mix sugar, cornstarch, and yolks:
    In a bowl, whisk sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks until smooth.

  3. Temper eggs:
    Slowly pour about ½ cup hot milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.

  4. Cook cream:
    Pour the egg mixture back into the saucepan with the rest of the milk. Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly until thickened (about 3–5 minutes).

  5. Finish cream:
    Remove from heat, stir in butter and vanilla. Let cool, cover with plastic touching the surface to prevent a skin.


To assemble:

  • Roll out the butter dough, cut into shapes or rectangles.

  • Spoon a dollop of chilled vanilla cream onto each piece.

  • Fold or roll dough around filling, place on a baking sheet, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15–20 minutes until golden.
