7 Silent Signs 1 Month Before A Stroke Occurs

Posted on April 29, 2026 by Admin

A stroke often happens suddenly, but in some people there can be warning signs days to weeks before it occurs. These are usually caused by temporary interruptions in blood flow to the brain, sometimes called a “mini-stroke” or transient ischemic attack (TIA).

Here are 7 silent or early warning signs that may appear about a month before a stroke:

1. Sudden, brief weakness or numbness

You may feel weakness or tingling in the face, arm, or leg, usually on one side. It may come and go and be easy to ignore.

2. Short episodes of vision problems

Blurred vision, double vision, or temporary loss of vision in one eye can occur for minutes or hours, then improve.

3. Unexplained dizziness or loss of balance

Feeling unsteady, dizzy, or having difficulty walking straight without a clear reason.

4. Brief speech difficulties

Slurred speech, trouble finding words, or speaking in a confusing way that resolves on its own.

5. Sudden severe headaches

A new, intense headache—especially if it feels different from usual headaches—can be a warning sign.

6. Memory or confusion episodes

Temporary confusion, difficulty concentrating, or sudden forgetfulness that is unusual for the person.

7. “Mini-stroke” symptoms (TIA episodes)

Short-lived stroke-like symptoms that disappear within minutes to hours. These are serious warning signals that a full stroke risk is high.

Important context

These symptoms may also be caused by other conditions, but they should never be ignored, especially if they:

  • Come suddenly
  • Last a few minutes or hours
  • Keep recurring

A stroke involves reduced blood flow to the brain and is a medical emergency. Stroke risk is highest after warning events like TIAs.

When to seek urgent help

Get emergency care immediately if any of these occur:

  • Face drooping
  • Arm weakness
  • Speech difficulty
    (Think “FAST” test)
