AMLODIPINE SIDE EFFECTS

Amlodipine is a widely used blood pressure and chest pain medicine. Most people tolerate it well, but it can cause side effects in some cases.


🧠 Common side effects (most frequent)

  • 🦶 Swelling of ankles or feet (very common)
  • 🤕 Headache
  • 😵 Dizziness (especially when starting or increasing dose)
  • 😌 Flushing (warmth/redness of face)
  • 😴 Tiredness or fatigue
  • ❤️ Mild palpitations

⚠️ Less common side effects

  • Nausea or stomach discomfort
  • Sleepiness
  • Low blood pressure (especially if combined with other BP medicines)
  • Gum swelling (rare but known)

🚨 Rare but serious side effects

Seek medical help if you notice:

  • Severe or sudden swelling or rapid weight gain
  • Fainting or very low blood pressure
  • Chest pain that worsens
  • Allergic reaction (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty)
