How much should you weigh based on your age and height?

Posted on April 11, 2026 by Admin

Your ideal weight depends more on your height and body composition than age alone. Age can slightly affect metabolism, but doctors mainly use BMI (Body Mass Index) to estimate a healthy range.

πŸ“Š Healthy weight based on height (adult BMI 18.5–24.9)

Here’s a simple guide:

πŸ‘€ Height β†’ Healthy weight range

  • 5’0″ (152 cm) β†’ 45–57 kg
  • 5’2″ (157 cm) β†’ 48–61 kg
  • 5’4″ (162 cm) β†’ 51–65 kg
  • 5’6″ (167 cm) β†’ 53–68 kg
  • 5’8″ (172 cm) β†’ 56–72 kg
  • 5’10” (178 cm) β†’ 60–77 kg
  • 6’0″ (183 cm) β†’ 63–81 kg

🧠 How BMI works

  • Below 18.5 β†’ Underweight
  • 18.5–24.9 β†’ Healthy range
  • 25–29.9 β†’ Overweight
  • 30+ β†’ Obese

⚠️ Important notes

  • Muscle weighs more than fat (athletes may weigh more but still be healthy)
  • Waist size and fitness matter just as much as weight
  • Teens and children have different charts than adults
