DIY air freshener

Posted on April 7, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a simple, natural way to make a DIY air freshener at home. No harsh chemicals, and you can customize the scent!

1. Spray Bottle Air Freshener

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup distilled water
  • 2–3 tbsp rubbing alcohol or vodka (acts as a preservative and helps scent disperse)
  • 15–20 drops essential oils (e.g., lavender, lemon, eucalyptus, or peppermint)

Instructions:

  1. Mix water and alcohol in a spray bottle.
  2. Add essential oils and shake well.
  3. Spray around the room as needed.

💡 Tip: Shake before each use to mix the oils.

2. Gel Air Freshener

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp unflavored gelatin
  • 1–2 tbsp salt (helps preserve the gel)
  • 15–20 drops essential oils

Instructions:

  1. Heat water in a pan and stir in gelatin until fully dissolved.
  2. Add salt and essential oils.
  3. Pour mixture into small jars or containers and let cool until set.
  4. Place in any room to gently release fragrance.

3. Baking Soda & Essential Oil Air Freshener

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 10–15 drops essential oils
  • Small jar with lid (poke holes in lid)

Instructions:

  1. Mix baking soda and essential oils in a jar.
  2. Poke holes in the lid so the scent can escape.
  3. Place it in your room or bathroom; shake occasionally to refresh the scent.

✨ Bonus Tip: Use citrus peels, cinnamon sticks, or coffee grounds as natural deodorizing additions in any of these DIY air fresheners.

If you want, I can give a super quick 5-minute microwave version that works instantly for freshening a room—no bottles or gels needed. Do you want me to share that?
