Creamy Potato Hamburger Soup

Here’s a delicious and creamy potato hamburger soup recipe that’s hearty, comforting, and easy to make. 🍲


Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup milk or heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 2 tbsp butter or oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional garnish: chopped green onions, parsley, or extra cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook the beef:
    • In a large pot, heat butter or oil over medium heat.
    • Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Sauté aromatics:
    • Add onion and garlic to the beef. Cook 3–4 minutes until softened.
  3. Add potatoes and broth:
    • Stir in diced potatoes and beef broth.
    • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer 15–20 minutes until potatoes are tender.
  4. Make it creamy:
    • Reduce heat to low. Stir in milk or heavy cream.
    • Heat gently (do not boil) until warmed through.
  5. Optional cheese:
    • Stir in shredded cheddar for extra richness.
  6. Season & serve:
    • Add salt and pepper to taste.
    • Garnish with green onions, parsley, or more cheese if desired.

Tips & Variations

  • Vegetables: Add carrots, celery, or corn for more texture.
  • Thicker soup: Mash some of the potatoes in the soup to naturally thicken it.
  • Healthier version: Use lean ground beef or ground turkey and low-fat milk.
  • Slow cooker version: Brown the beef first, then combine all ingredients (except milk and cheese) in a slow cooker for 4–5 hours on low. Stir in milk and cheese before serving.

💡 Fun Idea: Serve with warm crusty bread or a simple side salad for a full meal.
