Italian sub squares

Posted on April 2, 2026 by Admin

Italian Sub Squares are a delicious baked sandwich-style dish inspired by a classic Italian sub—but made easy in a pan and sliced into squares. Perfect for parties, snacks, or a quick meal.

🥪 Ingredients

  • 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough (or pizza dough)
  • 200–300g deli meats (ham, salami, pepperoni)
  • 1–2 cups shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese
  • ½ cup sliced onions
  • ½ cup sliced bell peppers (optional)
  • ¼ cup sliced olives (optional)
  • 2–3 tbsp Italian dressing
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Optional: oregano, garlic powder, chili flakes

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F).
  2. Prepare base: Press half the dough into a greased baking dish.
  3. Layer fillings: Add meats, cheese, veggies, and drizzle Italian dressing.
  4. Top layer: Cover with remaining dough and seal edges.
  5. Egg wash: Brush beaten egg on top and sprinkle herbs if desired.
  6. Bake: 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Cool & slice: Let it rest 5–10 minutes, then cut into squares.

😋 Tips

  • Add banana peppers or jalapeños for a tangy kick.
  • Serve with marinara or garlic sauce for dipping.
  • Tastes great warm or cold, making it perfect for leftovers.

If you want, I can give you a healthier or air fryer version of Italian sub squares that’s quicker and lighter.
