Classic Crumb Cake

Ingredients

For the cake (4 main ingredients):

  1. 2 cups all-purpose flour
  2. 1 cup sugar
  3. 1 cup butter (softened)
  4. 2 eggs

For the crumb topping (3 main ingredients):

  1. 1 cup brown sugar
  2. ½ cup butter (cold)
  3. 1 cup flour

(Optional: cinnamon 1 tsp for extra flavor in the crumbs)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Make the cake:
    • In a bowl, cream together 1 cup butter and 1 cup sugar.
    • Beat in the eggs.
    • Gradually add 2 cups flour until a soft dough forms. Spread evenly in the pan.
  3. Make the crumb topping:
    • Mix 1 cup brown sugar, ½ cup cold butter, and 1 cup flour.
    • Use fingers or a fork to crumble mixture over the cake evenly.
  4. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  5. Cool slightly, slice, and serve.

This creates a soft, buttery cake with a sweet, crunchy topping—perfect for Easter brunch or dessert.
